Yates Lake map
Yates Lake is the Alabama Power reservoir directly below Lake Martin on the Tallapoosa River at Tallassee. State hydro tables date Yates Dam to 1928. Alabama Power’s shoreline guide places the lake in Tallapoosa County and lists 2,000 acres, 40 miles of shoreline, and a full pool of 345 feet.
The short pool under Martin
Yates is run-of-river, so it does not use Lake Martin’s seasonal storage drawdown. Thurlow Lake, completed in 1930, is the next and smaller pool downstream, still at Tallassee, with only 6 miles of shoreline in the same guide. A Yates map is the middle shoreline: below Martin Dam and above Thurlow Dam. The dam site sits at Tallassee, where state tables also list Elmore County for the structure, while the shoreline guide assigns the lake itself to Tallapoosa County.

Order Yates when the house is on this 2,000-acre pool, not when it is on Martin’s 880 miles of shoreline or on Thurlow’s much shorter one.
