Wheeler Lake map
Wheeler Lake is the Tennessee River reservoir between Guntersville Dam and Wheeler Dam. The Encyclopedia of Alabama describes Wheeler Dam, in Lauderdale County, as the first main-river dam TVA built, with construction from 1933 to 1936. TVA’s land-management plan for the reservoir puts the dam at Tennessee River mile 274.9.
Counties on the pool
TVA’s Wheeler Reservoir land plan lists six Alabama counties: Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan. Decatur sits on this pool, which is why a Decatur lake house is a Wheeler map and not a Guntersville map. Wilson Lake is the next pool downstream, behind Wilson Dam at Muscle Shoals.
Who a Wheeler map is for
Order a Wheeler map for a dock or a house on this long middle pool, including the Decatur shore in Morgan County. It is the wrong map for a place above Guntersville Dam or below Wilson Dam. In the customizer, search “Wheeler Lake, Decatur, Alabama”. A result in Chambers County is a different lake.
