Guntersville Lake map
Guntersville Lake is a Tennessee Valley Authority reservoir on the Tennessee River in northeast Alabama. The Encyclopedia of Alabama places Guntersville Dam in Marshall County, about seven miles northwest of the city of Guntersville, and dates its completion to 1939. Published locations put the main pool in Jackson and Marshall counties. The lake extends upstream to Nickajack Dam, and marine charts also draw shoreline in DeKalb County and in Marion County, Tennessee.
Where the pool sits
Guntersville Dam is the upstream end of Wheeler Lake: the two TVA pools meet at the dam. TVA built Guntersville as one of the main-river dams that opened a navigation channel on the Tennessee. Published acreage figures for this reservoir do not agree closely from one agency table to the next, so the figures used here are the dam’s county, the completion year, and the counties on the pool rather than a single surface area.

- No. The dam is in Marshall County. The pool also runs through Jackson County to Nickajack Dam, and marine charts include DeKalb County plus a Tennessee shoreline in Marion County.

- No. Wheeler Lake starts on the downstream side of Guntersville Dam. A Wheeler map and a Guntersville map are two different shorelines.
