Claiborne Lake map
Claiborne Lake is the downstream U.S. Army Corps of Engineers pool on the Alabama River. The Corps’ pertinent data for Claiborne Lock and Dam places the project in Clarke, Monroe, and Wilcox counties. Auburn’s Water Resources Center says the dam was completed in 1971, opened for navigation in 1969, and that the pool runs upstream to Millers Ferry.
The lower river lake
Auburn’s center describes Claiborne as the most primitive river lake in Alabama and says the pool covers more than 60 miles of the Alabama River between Claiborne and Millers Ferry. That description is theirs, for this reach, and it is what separates the page from Dannelly Reservoir just upstream. Below Claiborne the Alabama continues toward its junction with the Tombigbee. This page does not quote a river mile, because the Corps data sheet lists more than one mile figure for the dam.

A Claiborne map is for a camp or a boat on the lower Alabama, in Clarke, Monroe, or Wilcox County, between this lock and Millers Ferry. It is not the Millers Ferry / Dannelly pool and not Coffeeville Lake on the Tombigbee. Search “Claiborne Lake, Alabama” and choose the Alabama River reservoir.
